The Vietnamese National Assembly recently approved the government’s proposal to amend and supplement several articles of the Law of Foreigners’ Entry into, Exit from, Transit through, and Residence in Vietnam. Vietnam currently offers e-visas to citizens of 80 countries and territories, including Italy. This new amendment, expected to make it easier for foreigners to visit and do business in Vietnam, will allow Italian citizens to obtain an e-visa valid for 90 days upon entry. The current limit for single or multiple entries is no more than 30 days.
In addition, foreign visitors hailing from countries and regions eligible for Vietnam’s unilateral visa waiver program would be able to enjoy a stay of 45 days visa-free, surpassing the current limit of 15 days. This includes Italian visitors, who can enjoy 45 days visa-free in the country from August 15, 2023.
The government hopes that the extended e-visa validity period of 90 days for Italian citizens will make it easier and more convenient for them to travel to Vietnam. This will also encourage more Italians to explore the country’s natural beauty, culture, and historical monuments.
