Visa Exemption Agreement Between Vietnam – Laos

According to the Visa Exemption Agreement for Ordinary Passport signed on March 5, 2004, effective from July 1, 2004

Have agreed as follows:

Article 1

Citizens of one Contracting Party holding ordinary passports with at least 6 months validity are exempt from visas to enter, exit and transit the territory of the other Contracting Party according to the provisions of this Agreement.

Article 2

  1. Persons who enter visa-free under the provisions of Article 1 of this Agreement may temporarily reside in the territory of the other Contracting Party for a period of not more than 30 days, starting from the date of entry. In special cases, they can be considered by the competent authority of the host country to extend their temporary residence.
  2. Citizens of one Contracting Party who wish to enter the other Contracting Party for a temporary stay of more than 30 days must have a visa issued by a competent authority of that Contracting Party. After entering the country, they may be allowed to extend their temporary stay at the competent authority of the host country and must pay fees according to regulations.
