Hanoi has some of the best brunch spots in Vietnam, and it’s not hard to see with cafés popping up in every corner. There are both more budget friendly options and fine dining restaurants, where you can choose between Western and Vietnamese food. So if you’re looking for the perfect place to brunch in Hanoi, have a look at this list.
1. Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel
Why choose between one restaurant when you can have three options? The luxurious hotel actually has three restaurants: Angelina, Le Beaulieu and Spice Gardens. The first offers a wide variety of Italian dishes, the second has French food and the third is local, Vietnamese cuisine. They’re excellent places to go for brunch with your friends and family, and the hotel itself is a beautiful place to be in.
2. La Badiane
Situated in an old colonial villa is the La Badiane, a French restaurant which offers some of the best food in town. The dining area upstairs is really cozy and they even have a small garden courtyard. They have a weekly lunch special so make sure you go to their website to see what’s on the menu. If you have space for dessert, make sure to try their coconut mousse, which is nothing but divine.
3. DC Bistro
If you need a break from the Vietnamese kitchen, you can get Western food here at the DC Bistro. The award-winning chef Didieu Corlou, who also owns the fine dining restaurant La Verticale, opened this smaller bistro restaurant that serves home-style dishes. The atmosphere is really cool and you get really good value for your money.
4. The Hanoi Social Club
One of the most popular places to brunch in Hanoi is in the Hanoi Social Club, one of the few places where you can find English newspapers. They also have acoustic bands who comes to play every once in a while, which will make your brunch experience even more special. On the sunny days, head up their rooftop and enjoy your brunch there.
5. 3 Chi Em
This is a beautiful spot where you can get a variety of different Vietnamese dishes. The ambiance is relaxed and calm, which makes it the perfect place to hang around for a few hours while digging in on the food. A meal usually cost about 50,000 VND which is the equivalent of 2 USD. Not too shabby, right? Don’t miss out on this place when you’re in Hanoi, whether you want to go for brunch or dinner.
6. Lifted Coffee and Brunch
If you want a place that serves more traditional brunch, head over to Lifted Coffee and Brunch where you can choose from everything between granola bowls and specialty smoothies. Their menu changes every month so check out their FB page to see what’s new. Although the prices are a bit higher here, you’ll get quality food with an Aussie twist – which is something that can’t be found everywhere in Hanoi.
7. Maison De Tet Decor
Looking for a picturesque cafĂ© to have an incredible brunch at? Maison De Tet Decor is located in an old French mansion which will take your breath away. They also have a small outdoor terrace where you can enjoy the sun – and your coffee! Their menu consists of soups, salads, burgers and specialty coffee roasts, so you have plenty of options to choose from. It’s a bit more upscale, so the prices are a bit higher. But for a place like this, it’s worth to splurge those extra dollars to get a really good meal in a beautiful place like the Maison De Tet Decor.
If you don’t have time to check them all out, at least try one of these places. Hanoi is the perfect city to go out for brunch and when you want to escape the city’s hustle and bustle, just enter one of these restaurants and you’ll forget about the outside world for a while.
Once you’ve decided to travel to Vietnam, remember to apply for a Vietnam visa in order to enter the country. This is required by everyone who are not on the visa exempt list (but if you want to stay for 15 days or longer, you have to get a visa as well). You can either go to your nearest Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate and apply with them or do it online, which is the most preferred option amongst travelers. You have two choices: Visa on Arrival or E-Visa. Both of them are easy to apply to and you can get the visa within a few days, or even hours if you need an emergency visa.
