2026–2027 Vietnam Travel Guide
An interactive companion for expats, nomads, and families crossing the South China Sea. From visa-free Phu Quoc to the new 2026 Digital Arrival Card.
Phase 1: Visa Intelligence
The most critical step for Indian passport holders. Understanding your residency status in Malaysia (Work Permit, MM2H, Student) does not change the visa requirement for your Indian citizenship.
The Phu Quoc Exception
30-day visa-free entry ONLY if flying direct to PQC and staying on the island. Mainland travel requires a full visa.
E-Visa (Recommended)
90 days validity, multiple entries supported. 100% online application for residents of Malaysia.
KL Embassy Route
No. 4, Persiaran Stonor. Best for long-term work or diplomatic permits. Requires 5-10 working days.

Phase 2: The Logistics Bridge
Connecting Malaysia’s major hubs to Vietnam’s economic and cultural centers. Direct flights are the primary route for Indian citizens starting from KUL, PEN, or JHB.

Phase 3: 2026 Arrival Readiness
Starting April 15, 2026, all international arrivals at Tan Son Nhat (SGN) must submit a Digital Arrival Card within 72 hours of landing. This is a separate step from your E-Visa.

Phase 4: Optimization
“The little things make the journey.”
Timing Matters
Indian residents in Malaysia should target Jan–Aug for Central Vietnam (Da Nang) or Sept–Nov for Hanoi to avoid peak humidity.

Common Indian Passport Pitfalls
-
✕
The Phu Quoc Trap: Flying KUL → SGN → PQC. You MUST have a visa for the SGN transfer.
-
✕
Digital Copy Reliance: Vietnamese immigration often insists on a physical, printed E-Visa.
-
✕
MRZ Errors: Name mismatch between passport MRZ and E-Visa will lead to board refusal.
