When foreigners enter Vietnam to travel and want to bring a means of transport to travel in Vietnam, they must meet the requirements According to Article 3 of Decree No. 05/VBHN-BGTVT stipulating conditions for motor vehicles to participate in traffic in Vietnam below:
Conditions for foreign motor vehicles to join traffic in Vietnam
👉 It must go through Vietnam’s international travel agencies to carry out the procedures for requesting approval and organizing the implementation. The maximum time allowed to participate in traffic in Vietnam is 30 days. In case of force majeure (natural disaster, traffic accident, vehicle damage that cannot be repaired in Vietnam), the vehicle is allowed to stay in Vietnam for no more than 10 days.
👉 Having the written approval of the Ministry of Transport.
Conditions for vehicles:
👉 Being a passenger car with a left-hand drive of 9 seats or less, a mobile home car with a left-hand drive, and a motorcycle;
👉 Under the ownership of a foreign organization or individual, registered in a foreign country and attached with a foreign number plate;
👉 Having a valid vehicle registration certificate issued by the competent authority of the country where the vehicle is registered;
👉 Having a valid certificate of technical safety and environmental protection for motor vehicles issued by the competent authority of the country where the vehicle is registered (for cars).
Conditions for vehicle drivers:
👉 Being a foreign citizen;
👉 Having a passport or a valid replacement passport that is valid for at least 06 months from the date of entry and must have a visa (except for cases of visa exemption) suitable for the duration of temporary stay in Viet Nam;
👉 Having a driving license suitable for the type of vehicle to be driven.
