The coronavirus, also known as Covid 19, has greatly affected the travel plans of millions of travelers. Since the virus has been spreading very rapidly, several countries all over the world have decided to stop accepting International visitors. Among these countries is Vietnam. Vietnam has to temporarily suspend visa issuance in order to curb the spread of this deadly virus.
But now that the world is slowly going back to normal, Vietnam has decided to lift the travel restrictions. Thus, visa issuance is once again available to all foreign nationals who are planning to visit Vietnam. For citizens of Taiwan, you are required to get a visa before you can enter Vietnam. There are two kinds of visas that you can get, the e-visa and the visa on arrival.
Vietnam Visa Options for Citizens of Taiwan
Applying for a visa to Vietnam should be easy for all Taiwanese citizens. In fact, if you will choose the e-visa, you don’t need to go to an embassy anymore. You can just go online to get this visa. There will be an online application form that you need to fill out. Once the visa is approved, it will be sent to you via email. That document will already serve as your visa to Vietnam. Just print it so you can present it to the Immigration officer when you arrive in the country. The e-visa is only good for single entry and has a validity of 30 days.
Another type of visa that Taiwanese citizens are qualified to avail is the Visa on Arrival. As the name suggests, you’ll assume that this visa can only be obtained when you arrive in Vietnam. Indeed, this visa is issued upon arrival only. However, you need to fill out an application form online in advance. After you fill out the form, they will give you a letter that says you are pre-approved of a visa. This letter is what you’ll show at the airport in order to be given the visa.
How to Apply for the Vietnam E-visa for Citizens of Taiwan
As mentioned, the e-visa is the type of visa that you can apply online. So the first thing that you need to do is to get your laptop or mobile phone. Connect to the Internet and follow the steps below.
- Go to the official website of the Vietnamese government for an e-visa then open the visa application form and provide the information that it asks. Type in your name, nationality, birth date, passport number, and other details.
- Next, provide a copy of your passport. You can submit a scanned copy of the bio page or you can take a photo of that page and upload it online. A passport-sized photo in jpeg format will also be required.
- When you’re done uploading the required documents, click the next page to make a payment. The processing fee will cost you $25 and you can pay with your card. When the payment is successful, go ahead and submit your e-visa application.
- After about 3 business days, you’ll get a response from the Vietnam Immigration. In the email, they will give you instructions on how you can download your e-visa. Download the visa and bring a copy to Vietnam.
- When you arrive in Vietnam, proceed directly to Passport Control and give them your passport and e-visa. You will then be allowed entry into the country.
How to Apply for the Vietnam Visa on Arrival for Citizens of Taiwan
For Taiwanese visitors who would like to stay in Vietnam much longer, then the visa on arrival is what you should get. This visa will let you stay in the country for up to 60 days. Here are the steps to apply for the Vietnam visa on arrival.
- Go online and fill out the application. This is not yet the official visa application but you need to fill it out correctly because this will be used to process your visa later on.
- After you register online, wait for an email for your pre-approval letter. The email will also contain a blank visa application form. Print the form and take it with you to Vietnam. It is best to fill out the form in advance to save time.
- When you arrive at the airport in Vietnam, look for the Visa Landing Counter. You will usually find it across the Passport Control area. Here, submit the requirements. These include the pre-approval letter, the visa application form, your photo, and your passport. You will also be asked to pay for the stamping fee. Then wait for a few minutes while they process your visa.
- Once your visa is ready, they will call you back to the counter. They will give you back your passport, and in it, you will find a visa attached. Use this visa to enter at the Passport Control.
