What is Visa Renewal?
For foreigners whose visa is about to expire, you have two options for extending your stay in the country. One is to apply for a visa extension and the other is to apply for a visa renewal. With the visa renewal, you will be issued a new visa sticker, which would then allow you to stay in Vietnam longer. Unlike the visa extension where the validity of your existing visa will be extended, the visa renewal will issue a new visa to the eligible foreigners.
What’s great about the visa renewal is that you will have an option to choose the new visa that will be issued to you. You can apply for a single-entry or multiple entries, with a choice between 30 days and 60 days validity. If your visa renewal application is approved, a visa sticker will be attached to your passport. This new visa will let you stay in Vietnam longer with no need to exit the country and re-enter.

Requirements to Apply for a Vietnam Visa Renewal
To be approved for the visa renewal, you must submit all the requirements that Vietnam Immigration will require. Below are the requirements that you need to prepare for the visa renewal application:
👉 Original copy of passport – you must submit the original copy of your passport when applying for the visa renewal. Your passport should be valid for at least six months from the date of renewal. It should also have extra pages for the visa sticker to be attached.
👉 Application form – applying for a visa renewal is just like applying for a new visa. You need to fill out an application form and provide all your personal details, such as your complete name and other details from your passport. Make sure you fill out the form correctly. You will also be asked to indicate the type of visa that you wanted to apply for. Form NA5 for visa extension
👉 Visa copy – if you have an old visa, submit a copy of the visa as well. But if you entered the country with no visa since you are exempted, then this requirement will not be applicable to you.

How to Apply for a Visa Renewal in Thu Duc City
