You can extend your visa by acquiring permission from the government to stay longer in Vietnam when your current visa is about to expire. You may be able to extend your visa while in Vietnam without leaving the country. You should apply to extend before your current visa expires. We recommend you to apply for visa extension at least 10days before your current visa expires.
The number of days of visa extension depends on the type of visa you currently have.
- If your current visa is 1 month visa you can get it extended for another 1 month.
- If your current visa is 3 month visa you can get it extended for another 1 month or 3 months.

Due to the ease and time saving process, most people prefer Visa on arrival process.
Basic requirements for Vietnam visa on arrival
- Give the exact name as in your passport for the visa application process.
- Provide the right date of birth.
- Give your country name, date of entry and exit accurately.
- Enter the passport number exactly as written in your passport, and it must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry.
- Have your children’s own passport with you if you are travelling to Vietnam with them, and you must pay the same Vietnam visa fee as adults.
Once you complete the application process, you will receive a visa approval letter to your email within 3 to 5 working days. Take a print or download a copy to present it to the check-in desk to stamp the visa on your passport.
