1. Ban Gioc Waterfall – Cao Bang
Ban Gioc waterfall is perhaps the most popular of all waterfalls in Vietnam. It’s located in Cao Bang Province in the Northern part of the country. The other side of this waterfall belongs to China. Just like the Iguazu Falls in Brazil and the Niagara Falls in Canada, the Ban Gioc waterfall is one of the world’s largest cross-border waterfalls!
The Ban Gioc Waterfall is absolutely stunning. With a width of more than 200 meters and a drop of 70 meters, this waterfall is truly massive. The waterfalls through three layers of cliffs, making it look even more breathtaking. Aside from swimming at the large natural pool, you can also explore the lush green forest surrounding the falls. The best way to reach Ban Gioc is to drive or take a bus from Hanoi.
2. Dray Nur Waterfall – Dak Lak
The Dray Nur waterfall is another stunning waterfall in Vietnam that’s located in the Dak Lak province of Vietnam. Dray Nur is one of the three waterfall systems in the Srepok River, along with Dray Sap and Gia Long. Having a height of 30 meters and a length of 250 meters, the Dray Nur waterfall is huge. But the main highlight of this waterfall is the massive cave that hides right behind it.
When visiting Dray Nur, it’s a good idea to also visit the other two waterfalls in the waterfall cluster, the Dray Sap and Gia Long. It would require a 20-minute climb to reach this waterfall, yet the journey is really worth it once you see the steady flow of water beautifully cascading over red rock.

4. Pongour Waterfall – Da Lat
Pongour is a breathtaking waterfall with water cascading beautifully from a 40-meter high cliff. Located in the city of Da Lat, the waterfall spreads to more than 100 meters of seven rock levels. Located in Thac Thanh, in the province of Thanh Hoa, the best way to reach this place is to drive or take a bus from Hanoi, which is 100 km away.
The best time to visit the Thac May waterfall is in August where you get to clearly see its crystal clear blue water. If you’re visiting in May or June, take time to explore the nearby Pu Loung town, which is home to the Muong ethnic groups of Vietnam.
6. Yang Bay Waterfall – Nha Trang
Yang Bay is a beautiful waterfall tucked in the heart of a thick forest and surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges. Located in the province of Nha Trang, the waterfall has a height of 100 meters above sea level. It’s also called “Ranlay”, which translates to “Heaven’s Waterfall” because of its unique beauty.
At the foot of the Yang Bay waterfall, you’ll find plenty of lakes with crystal clear water where you can swim and bask in the sunlight that shimmers towards the surface of the water.
