The most unique Airbnb’s in Vietnam

AirBnB has changed the way we travel in many ways. Instead of always checking in to hostels or hotels, you can now stay at a place which feels like a proper home. Some Airbnb’s will be a hit and some will be a miss, but if you do your research properly, you’ll always end up in a place you’ll like. What’s so fun about Airbnb is that it makes you venture out from the tourist streets and you might end up in a neighbourhood where only locals live. It gives you a glimpse into locals life, something that you might’ve missed out on if you stayed at hotels.

Vietnam has joined the trend and it’s now easier than ever to find accommodation via AirBnB. There’s especially lots of them in the bigger cities, but you can also find it in unexpected places. Let’s take a look at some of the most unique AirBnB’s in Vietnam.

1. Lacaito-The May

This eco-friendly homestay is located in the Old Quarter in Hanoi and even has an indoor fireplace (which is very unique for Vietnam). If you come here during the colder winter months, this can be a life saver. It’s newly renovated, incredibly charming, sophisticated and is considerate towards the environment. The house is located in an old French colonial building in the heart of the city. But although it’s just by the city centre, you’ll find that once you step inside, it’ll be like you entered a calm oasis, far away from the bustling streets of Hanoi. They also have a little garden where they plant herbs and spices, which you are welcome to pick.

2. G Studio House

Cute and cozy, this beautiful apartment is located close to the Old Quarter, just south of Hoan Kiem Lake. You’ll live amongst locals here which adds to the special vibe of this apartment. There’s plenty of cafés and markets around the area as well as museums, shops and galleries. You’ll have the entire room for yourself so you can enjoy all the equipments within the house, such as TV, fridge, hair dryer, iron, etc.

3. Christine’s Beautifully Designed Studio in D1

This studio is really special since it’s been ranked as the Nr 1 accommodation in Vietnam. It’s usually fully booked, but if you try to book it very well in advance, you might be one of the lucky ones that can stay there. It’s a beautifully designed studio which has anything you might need. It’s hidden in a calm alley so you can escape the noise from Ho Chi Minh City. From the apartment, you can also walk to the most important tourist attractions such as Notre Dame cathedral, the Post Office and Benh Thanh market. But make sure to stay and enjoy the studio itself as well – there’s a good reason why it’s one of the most popular Airbnb’s in Vietnam. The studio is bright, modern, clean, and has a homey feeling to it.

4. Tonkin Bungalow

This beautiful Airbnb in Hoi An is not just your average apartment – it’s actually a wooden beach bungalow where you can relax after a day of sightseeing in Hoi An. If you’re heading this way, try to book a night here. It costs about 80 USD a night and it’s so worth it. It’s not everyday you come across a luxurious bungalow.

5. BAWHOME – Casa D’Arte

As the name hints, it’s an incredible apartment to stay at if you love art. The incredible Casa D’Arte in Ho Chi Minh City is decorated with artistic style and offers stunning views from the balcony to the street. It’s an Airbnb with lots of character, style, and a design that will definitely catch your eye. It almost feels like staying at an art gallery. It’s located in a 100 year old French building but the inside is modern and renovated, but still has the traditional touch to it.

Before you book your accommodation, make sure that you have your Vietnam visa ready and approved of. You need a visa in order to enter the country and if you fail to present one to the immigration officers, they can deny you entry into the country. There’s three possible ways for you to apply for a Vietnam visa. One is to get a Visa on Arrival, which you apply for online. You can also apply online for an E-Visa, but this is only available for certain countries. The third option is to go to the Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate and apply with them.
