If you didn’t know by now, Hoi An is famous for its tailors and if you’re looking to get something tailor made in Vietnam, this is where you should go. The reason why Hoi An is a popular place for tailors is because of its past operating as a trading port on the silk route. The tradition has stuck and these days you can find tailors everywhere in the city. It might even get overwhelming and difficult to know which one to choose. 3. Be Be Tailor

This tailor shop has been open for more than 15 years now and has since then perfected their techniques and style. You’ll be guaranteed to come out with a beautiful piece of clothing if you go to A Dong Silk. The prices might be a bit more on the expensive side here, but it’s worth it to get your dream garment.

Try to…

• Describe what you want as clearly as possible. Sometimes things get lost in translation and you don’t want that to happen to your garment.
• Know what you want before you go inside. This will save you and the designers time. If you don’t know what you want, let the tailors help you in this process. Trust them! They’re professionals after all.
• Come as early as possible so you can make adjustments. If you only have, let’s say, 3 days in Hoi An, then go to the tailor straight away. If you need to make adjustments, it’ll at least take a couple of hours before the tailor can fix it.
• Have fun! It’s not everyday you get to go to a tailor and create something from scratch. This is a unique experience and it should also be a fun one.
