If you didnât know by now, Hoi An is famous for its tailors and if youâre looking to get something tailor made in Vietnam, this is where you should go. The reason why Hoi An is a popular place for tailors is because of its past operating as a trading port on the silk route. The tradition has stuck and these days you can find tailors everywhere in the city. It might even get overwhelming and difficult to know which one to choose. Each has their own taste, but thereâs some tailor shops that has gotten repeatedly good reviews and satisfied clients, so perhaps these are the ones you should pay a visit to. Here is a guide to some of the best tailors in Hoi An.
1. Yaly Couture
What used to be a simple market stall has now developed into three outstanding boutiques which can be found in the Ancient Town. The staff are nothing but professional and knows exactly what theyâre doing, they can recommend you fabrics, styles and ensure that youâll get the best experience – and garment! The quality is high here and perhaps thatâs why so many people recommend this place. If the locals are convinced, then you know itâs a good place to go to.
2. Kimmy Tailor
One of the oldest tailor shops in Hoi An and is also one of the best. Kimmy Taylor started in the â70s and has since impressed people from all over the world with their professionality and their knowledge about tailor made clothes and fabrics. These days, itâs owned by a Vietnamese-Canadian couple who, with their international experience, can combine Western and Vietnamese style, making their shop stand out in the crowd. If you want to create something that appeals more to the international crowd, you might want to check out Kimmy Tailor. Their tailors can make anything youâd like, whether itâs a bikini, dress, suit, shirt, you name it! Thereâs nothing the team at Kimmy Tailor canât do.

Youâll be guaranteed to come out with a beautiful piece of clothing if you go to A Dong Silk. The prices might be a bit more on the expensive side here, but itâs worth it to get your dream garment.
5. Vanda Tailor

If you go on TripAdvisor, you wonât help but notice all the good reviews thatâs been written about Vanda Tailors. Their attention to details are impeccable and the fabrics they have in the store are nothing but of high quality. What more could you want out of a tailor?
Try toâŠ
- Describe what you want as clearly as possible. Sometimes things get lost in translation and you donât want that to happen to your garment.
- Know what you want before you go inside. This will save you and the designers time. If you donât know what you want, let the tailors help you in this process. Trust them! Theyâre professionals after all.
- Come as early as possible so you can make adjustments. If you only have, letâs say, 3 days in Hoi An, then go to the tailor straight away. If you need to make adjustments, itâll at least take a couple of hours before the tailor can fix it.
- Have fun! Itâs not everyday you get to go to a tailor and create something from scratch. This is a unique experience and it should also be a fun one.
⊠And remember to always apply for a Vietnam visa before you enter the country. Otherwise you wonât be able to get anything tailor made. You can either go to your nearest Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate and apply with them, or do as many others and apply online. You can choose to get a Visa on Arrival or an E-Visa.
