This Southeast Asian pearl has a natural charm to it, full of activities and tourist attractions. But if it’s beaches you’re looking for, you can choose to travel by the coast, in the north, south or head over to one of the islands. It all depends on how much time you have and what you’d like to do. We wanted to save you some time looking for the most romantic beaches in Vietnam and wrote about them here, in this article.

Con Dao

This pristine island might not be the easiest island to access, but there’s daily flights from Ho Chi Minh City that flies here. It’s still a hidden gem and is quite the idyllic place, located in the quiet waters of South China Sea. The beaches you can find here are not only unspoilt, with soft golden sand and lush mangrove forests, but some are also empty! Because tourism still hasn’t hit the island, you can find yourself being all alone on a big beach. The roads are perfect to drive a motorbike on as well since you won’t encounter a lot of traffic here – or any at all! If you want to be a bit secluded, this 16-island archipelago is the perfect place for you to spend your honeymoon in. Make sure to book a diving trip here and explore the beautiful coral reefs together. It’s a sight that you won’t soon forget.

Phu Quoc

The biggest island of Vietnam can be accessed via ferry as well as by flight. It’s slowly becoming a popular honeymoon destination in Vietnam, thanks to its splendid beauty and untouched beaches. The island is also home to some of the country’s most beautiful resorts, which makes for a perfect stay for your honeymoon. You can also go hiking in this paradise island, go on mountain hikes, dive amongst the coral reefs, or why not just relax by the pool with a drink in your hand.

Halong Bay

One of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Vietnam is Halong Bay, in the north. This is probably the most easily accessible island and there are several ferries departing from Hai Phong to Halong Bay. You could also either rent a car from Hanoi, go with a shuttle bus or taxi, take a bus, train or why not rent a motorbike and bike to Halong Bay yourself. Once you’re in Halong Bay, you can combine your honeymoon with an overnight boat trip in the bay where you get to sleep under the stars, cruise along the thousands of limestone islands and islets, explore underground caves, eat good food and swim in the emerald green waters. When you’ve seen the bay, you can take the ferry over to Cat Ba, which belongs to Halong Bay. As with the other islands, you’ll be met with white sand beaches, lush green landscapes and grand mountains. You can rent a kayak and go kayaking together, go hiking in the national park, rent a motorbike and drive around the island, watch the sunset by the Cannon Fort, where you’ll get one of the best panoramic views of Cat Ba, and end the night with a seafood dinner. There’s no denying that Cat Ba island is one of the most romantic places in Vietnam and it makes for the perfect place to spend your honeymoon.

It’s very important that you apply for a Vietnam visa before you intend on arriving to the country. If you’re not on the Vietnam visa exempt list, or would like to stay for longer than 15 days, it’s required of you to apply for a visa. You can either go to your nearest Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate and apply with them, or you could make it easy for you and do it online. There are two options: Visa on Arrival and E-Visa. The latter is only available for certain countries though. Applying online is by far the easiest, fastest and affordable way to acquire a visa.
