Vietnam, one of the most intriguing and diverse countries in Asia, has become a big tourist hotspot in the last years. Whether you are looking for adventure, relaxation, culture or you just need a vacation – Vietnam has a lot to offer to you. Here you can find luxurious restaurants and resorts, but also more humble places where you can relax and enjoy your vacation. The country is very affordable to travel around in and perhaps that is why it is one of the most popular places in Asia to visit. But we can list of many, many other things that makes it a good destination.
If you are a beach person, then there is an abundance of them. You can choose one in the coastline or why not visit Halong Bay, which is an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Not only does it have beaches, but also incredible limestone rock formations that were formed here millions and millions of years ago. If bigger cities attract you, there is the capital city Hanoi, where you will never be bored. Go to the Old Town and marvel at the beautiful architecture, colorful souvenirs and the incredible food that you can get there. There is also Ho Chi Minh City in the south, which is Vietnam’s biggest city.
There is also a lot to do here for the one who loves nature. Up north you can see rice terraces in Sapa, where Vietnam’s ethnic minority lives. There are also majestic mountains where you can hike or trek. Da Lat has become a very popular destination, mainly because of its spectacular nature and waterfalls. If this does not convince you, then why not visit Vietnam because of their fascinating culture and gastronomy that has become popular not only in Asia, but throughout the world. There is something for everyone here, you just have to come see it for yourself.
But before you decide to go to Vietnam, you will have to apply for a Vietnam visa. There are two options for you, and one is a bit easier than the other.
I heard about Vietnam e-visa. Can I apply for Vietnam e-visa if I am citizens of Ghana? (No, Ghanaian citizens are not eligible for Vietnam e-visa)
From 01 Feb 2019, under Decision 17/2019/NĐ-CP of the Government of Vietnam, there are 80 countries which citizens of it are eligible to apply online for an e-visa of Vietnam online (e-visa is a single entry valid for staying 30 days). We check but not found Ghana national in this list, therefore, Ghanaian citizens should choose two options below to get a visa for Vietnam
1. Visa on Arrival – Apply online for pre-approval then pick up your visa on arrival at the airport of Vietnam
The first choice is to apply for a Visa on Arrival (VOA). This is a very popular way of getting a Vietnam visa because of its convenience, quickness, safety and it is also inexpensive. It also gives you multi-entries, so you can go to another country and come back to Vietnam. You can apply for this anywhere in the world. All you need to do is have a computer and internet. With a “visa on arrival”, there is no need to send your passport or any other important private documents. What you need to do is fill out an Online Application Form, wait for your confirmation letter and you will normally receive a Visa Approval Letter within 2 working days. When everything is done, don’t forget to print out the finalized document, bring it to the airport in Vietnam and get it stamped by one of the immigration officers.
If you forgot to apply for a visa in good time, there is also the opportunity to get an Emergency Visa. It is then proceeded from 30 minutes to 4 hours. You will then receive an approval letter via email before boarding the plane. When you land in the country, the visa will be ready and stamped for you.
2. Apply for a visa through the Vietnamese Consulate or Embassy in the nearby countries of Ghana
The second option is applying for a visa at the Vietnamese Consulate or Vietnamese Embassy in Ghana. If you choose to go this way, you have to bring your passport and any relevant documents to the consulate or embassy. However, since Ghana does not have a Vietnamese Embassy, this method can be a bit complicated and inconvenient, since you will have to travel to a country that has a Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate. Sometimes the progress of your application also takes a longer time as well, especially if there are important documents that are missing.
After you have received your visa, you will be ready to start your adventure in Vietnam.
